Guftagoo Works

Some conversations move projects forward. Others move people towards each other.

The second kind rarely happens by accident.
Guftagoo Works helps teams practise the second kind.

The Book of Beliefs

Everything in Guftagoo Works grows from one belief.

Safety comes before honesty.

Not the other way round. A team does not become honest because it is told to be. It becomes honest once it has felt, repeatedly, that honesty here does not cost anything. Guftagoo Works is that belief in practice.

What We Keep Seeing

You already know this. Someone dominates. Someone stays quiet. The conversation stays safe. You leave the room knowing something real did not get said, and you cannot quite name what it was.

Teams aren't short of meetings. They're short of conversations.

You care about your team.

But caring is not a method. You need a practice, not another reason to feel responsible for something you cannot control alone.

Workshops don't follow you home.

A single good day in a room fades by Thursday. Safety is not installed. It is built, over weeks, in the ordinary moments in between.

You don't need training.

You need a card. Thirty minutes. And the willingness to answer first.

How Trust Grows

Six months. In the order trust actually requires.

Each month opens a different layer of safety. The sequence is not arbitrary - you cannot skip ahead, because each stage depends on the one before it.

01
The fun month

No themes, no stakes. The team discovers this room is safe through laughter.

Who are these people I work with?
02
Early belonging

Small truths, said out loud.

Do I fit here? Am I seen?
03
Deeper belonging

What I edit. What I hold back.

Is there something about me this team hasn't made room for?
04
Learning Together

Safe to ask. Safe to fail.

Am I safe to not know?
05
Shared Contribution

The quiet ones start speaking.

Does what I bring actually matter here?
06
Honest Challenge

The stage most teams never reach. By now, the foundation is built.

Can I say the hard thing and survive it?

Eighty-one cards. One conversation a week. Thirty minutes. Works in person and remotely.

The Weekly Practice

Thirty minutes. Every week. You lead it.

No preparation. No facilitation training. Draw a card and go.

A card lets the question belong to the room instead of to the manager. That small shift makes difficult conversations feel less personal and more possible.

01
Draw a card

From the current month's pool. The guidance is printed on it, visible to everyone in the room.

02
You answer first

Every time, honestly. This is the one rule. When you go first, genuinely, the team follows.

03
The team responds

Open floor, no pressure. Four people speaking in a team of twelve is not failure. It is how trust builds.

The habit that changes everything
04
The callback

The following week, reference one thing someone said. One sentence. That callback, more than any card, is what holds the whole practice together.

What changes: The Monday check-in stops going nowhere. People who were quiet start speaking without being asked. You learn things about colleagues you've worked with for years. Psychological safety stops being a concept and starts being Tuesday morning.
Why This Changes Teams

Teams perform better when people feel safe enough to speak honestly.

We've kept noticing the same thing. People rarely become psychologically safe because someone explained the concept to them. They become safe because they spent months having conversations that slowly taught them they could be honest here.

Research gave us language for something we had already begun to notice. The work of William Kahn, Edgar Schein, Amy Edmondson and Dr Timothy R. Clark helped us better understand how psychological safety grows through repeated small moments rather than a single conversation or training programme.

Why We Built This

Guftagoo Works began with the same observation that led to Udaan - that the people responsible for someone else's wellbeing are rarely given the words to ask about it properly.

At home, that person is a parent. At work, it's a manager.

The Session

Before the deck, come and feel what a Guftagoo Works conversation is like.

Siddharth runs a 90-minute guided session for teams of 6 to 20. Same conversation, held once, together. Some teams start here. Others go straight to the deck. Both lead to the same place.

Not a workshop. Not therapy. Just honest, guided dialogue with a clear purpose. Nobody is put on the spot.
